The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has arranged national level examination for career in Civil Services. By qualifying UPSC Civil Service examination, the candidate will get a chance to start their career in various Civil Services of Government of India such as Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Indian Police Service (IPS) & Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
The Union Public Service Commission has its main headquarter located at New Delhi, India. The honorable President of India appoints the Chairman and other members of the UPSC.
UPSC conducts examination for Civil Services in two phases: The Preliminary examination & the Main examination. The Preliminary Examination consists of two objective-type papers (General Studies & Aptitude Test) carrying a maximum of 400 marks.
About 4.5 lakh people appeared for this examination in 2014. In the year 2013, the UPSC civil service preliminary exam was given by 3, 24,101 candidates. The examination was conducted on August 24. The Union Public Service Commission has taken IAS civil service preliminary examination on 24.08.2014.The results of the civil service examination has already announced by UPSC on its official website on 14th October. A result of UPSC IAS civil services preliminary exam is now available on www.upsc.gov.in .
All those candidates who have been declared qualified in UPSC IAS Civil Services Preliminary Exam, they are required to registered themselves for Civil Services (Main) Examination by feeling up online Detailed Application Form (DAF).
DAF is filled for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2014 to be held from Sunday, the 14th December, 2014. The DAF (CSM) will be obtainable from the website of the UPSC from Tuesday, 28th October, 2014 till Tuesday, 11th November 2014.
The successful candidates are required to send the hard copy of the DAF (CSM) duly signed along with all necessary documents including the prescribed fees, send to the Under Secretary [CS (M)], Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069, so as to reach the Commission’s Office latest by Tuesday, 18th November, 2014, 5:00 P.M. The envelope should be superscripted with “Application for Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2014”.
