A candidate (Indian citizen) must have passed minimum Graduation from recognized University in India as well as belong to the age group of 21-30 years while appearing for the exam. There are mainly two steps while clearing the IPS examination.

  1. CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test)
  2. Main written test + Interview

It thus becomes really important to clear the Preliminary exams initially to reach up to Final written exam & Interview. There is no separate exam for IPS Officer but there is a joint exam for various higher posts in Indian Government. A candidate is allowed to make four attempts (SC/ST- no restrictions on no. of attempts & OBC- 7 attempts)

Candidates must make an attempt to go through as many General Knowledge books & IPS Books as possible. Revision is of utmost importance. Along with it, there are also many magazines that shall provide guidelines to candidates who are willing to take up IPS exam.
