School of Planning and Architecture (SPA):

The School of Planning and Architecture was established in  the year 1941, during that time it was just one of the few departments of Delhi Polytechnic Architecture.  However, recognizing its contribution to the field of modern architecture, it was severed from the Delhi Polytechnic Department, into a full fledged Architectural Institute.

After its segregation, it was affiliated with the Delhi University, it was during the year 1959  that its name was changed to School of Planning and Architecture. Later on, The Ministry of Education and Culture, Government of India, recognised it as a Deemed University

Courses offered by SPA:

Bachelor of Architecture:
This is a 5 year program, Bachelor of Architecture programme aims at attaining a high level of contextual excellence in architectural design. Both theory and studio exercises are viewed as the core of the programme with crucial inputs being provided by experts specializing in the fields of arts, humanities, engineering and technology, and professional practice of Architecture.

The curriculum is structured for five years and is divided into two stages. The first stage consists of three years of full time study followed by practical training in professional offices or at construction sites for 20 weeks. The second stage consists of full time study for one and a half year, whereby each student is required to write a research based dissertation, prepare for a seminar and present a design thesis along with the advanced level of compulsory and elective theory courses.

Bachelor of Planning:
This is a 4 year programme, Students admitted to this four years intensive training programme are provided with broad knowledge and skills necessary to plan for integrated and balanced development of human settlements and areas of varying sizes.

Admissions to the School of Planning & Architecture 2015:

All admissions to the Bachelors degree programs in Planning and Architecture will be done only through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE 2015). The selection of the candidates will be strictly according to the performance of the candidates in the JEE 2015.

Eligibility Criteria for Admissions to SPA 2015:

  • All candidates should appear and clear their 12th STD HSC exams, with minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Or any other equivalent examination, from any recognized Board in India.

Application Form:

All Application Forms for admissions will be made available as per the notification, which will be published by the SPA in the Newspapers.

Application Fee:

The Application form, should be duly filled in all respects, wherever applicable. The form should be submitted together with an application fee of 1000/-, by DD in favour of School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.

Submission of the Application Form:

  • All candidates must clearly specify the name of the programs/ courses that they are interested in.
  • The application form should be duly attested with all the necessary documentation.
  • The application form should reach SPA Delhi at the address given at the SPA website given above.
