State Bank of India considered as the Supreme Bank of India. Initially known as the Imperial Bank of India, State Bank of India (SBI) came into existence with its very own name on 1st July 1955. State Bank of India is a Multinational Bank. It is a government owned Corporation with its Headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra.In 1959, the government passed the State Bank of India (Subsidiary Banks) Act, which made eight state banks associates of SBI.
SBI is known to have acquired local banks in rescues. The State Bank of India and all its associate banks are identified by the same blue keyhole logo. According to one survey, SBI has as many as 14,816 branches in India, amongst which 66% branches were in Rural & Semi-Urban Areas. Apart from just India, SBI is spread over 34 countries with 180 overseas offices. SBI efficiently operates several foreign subsidiaries or affiliates.
SBI has got five associate banks. They can be stated as below:
- State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur
- State Bank of Hyderabad
- State Bank of Mysore
- State Bank of Patiala
- State Bank of Travancore
Previously SBI had seven Associate banks which then belonged to Princely States until Government of India Nationalised them. With the proposal to merge the Associate Banks into SBI to create a “Mega Bank”, steps were initiated to merge “State Bank of Saurashtra” & “State Bank of Indore”
State Bank Of India conducts recruitment drive from time to time to fulfill the vacancies for Assistant Clerical Post ,Probationary Officers Post , Special Management Executives as well as Specialist Cadre Officers.
With reference to that, SBI has announced recruitment of Probationary Officers in Associate Banks of State Bank of India.
SBI: Recruitment of PO in Associate Banks(2014-15)
Eligibility Criteria for PO:
Candidates willing to apply for the post of PO need to be Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University. Candidates possessing Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) Certificate must ensure the date of passing IDD is on or before the eligibility date.
The candidates appearing for PO should not be below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 1.9.2014. (Age relaxation for SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, PWD: different criteria, Ex servicemen: 5 years, Persons domiciled in Kashmir: 5 years)

Online Registration of Application: 1.9.2014 to 18.9.2014
Payment of Fees- Online: 1.9.2014 to 18.9.2014
Payment of Fees-Offline: 3.9.2014 to 20.9.2014
Tentative dates for examination: Nov 2014
How to apply for PO:
Candidates need to register through Bank’s Website http://www.statebankofindia.com or http://www.sbi.co.in/ . Further candidates are provided with the option of making payment either through Online mode or Offline Mode. Let us have a look at both the options.
Option-I (Offline Mode)
1. Candidates should scan their photograph & signature as prescribed in the guidelines.
2. Candidates are required to visit bank’s website http://www.sbi.co.in/ & open the Online application Format available in “Careers with Us”.
3. Fill in the Application carefully. Candidate shall receive a provisional registration no.& password.
4. Fees should be paid from second working day after registration & can be made within three working days at any branch of SBI. system generated Fee payment shall be used for depositing fee.
5. Print out of the application form & the challan should be retained by the candidate for further reference.
Option-II (Offline Mode)
Follow steps 1 to 3 as given under I.
a) After which Fee payment will have to be made online through payment gateway.
b) The payment can be made by using debit card/credit card/internet banking .
c) On successful completion of the transaction an e-receipt & application form shall be generated which may be printed for record.
