State Bank of India considered as the Supreme Bank of India. Initially known as the Imperial Bank of India, State Bank of India (SBI) came into existence with its very own name on 1st July 1955. State Bank of India is a Multinational Bank. It is a government owned Corporation with its Headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra.In 1959, the government passed the State Bank of India (Subsidiary Banks) Act, which made eight state banks associates of SBI.
SBI is known to have acquired local banks in rescues. The State Bank of India and all its associate banks are identified by the same blue keyhole logo. According to one survey, SBI has as many as 14,816 branches in India, amongst which 66% branches were in Rural & Semi-Urban Areas. Apart from just India, SBI is spread over 34 countries with 180 overseas offices. SBI efficiently operates several foreign subsidiaries or affiliates.
SBI has got five associate banks. They can be stated as below:
- State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur
- State Bank of Hyderabad
- State Bank of Mysore
- State Bank of Patiala
- State Bank of Travancore
Previously SBI had seven Associate banks which then belonged to Princely States until Government of India Nationalised them. With the proposal to merge the Associate Banks into SBI to create a “Mega Bank”, steps were initiated to merge “State Bank of Saurashtra” & “State Bank of Indore”
State Bank Of India conducts recruitment drive from time to time to fulfill the vacancies for various posts all together. SBI had conducted written test for the post of PO in the month of June-July’14 Test Phase-I. The written exam result was announced in the first week of September. It was then declared that the Group Discussion & Interview shall commence from 8/10/2014.
It has come to notice that SBI PO Exam 2014 releases Interview Call Letter for Test Phase-I (June-July ’14) Candidates who are selected in the interview process are eligible to download the interview call letter from the official site of the bank http://www.statebankofindia.com
The Interview Schedule shall be commencing from 8th October 2014. The Call Letter is available in English as well as in Hindi Language.
Candidates are required to supplement with some basic information in order to download the Interview Call Letter. Information such as Registration Number, Roll Number, Date of Birth and password are needed to download the call letter. The appearing candidates are intended to fill up a form for interview.
