It is a known fact that, SSC-CGL exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). This exam proves to be a great opportunity for Graduate level students. SSC recruits non-gazette & non-technical persons. Candidates belonging to age group of 18-27 can apply for SSC CGL examination. In case of Statistical Investigator Gr II should not be exceeding 26 years of age & that for an Assistant or Sub Inspector in CBI is between 20-27 years.
Basically the exam consists of two tier exams. On clearing these exams the candidate is eligible to appear for Computer Proficiency & Skill test. Each tier exam will consist of 200 marks stipulated to be completed within 2 hours of time slot.
Those candidates who have cleared Tier-I are eligible to appear for Tier-II. For every wrong answer, candidates are charged with 0.25 marks. Only those candidates who clear Tier-I & Tier-II are eligible to appear for Tier-III.

How to prepare for SSC CGL exams 2015
- General Awareness: This section shall test a candidate’s general awareness. Along with that, it is also bound to test the candidate’s knowledge about national & international current affairs & also matters occurring in day to day life. Subjects like History, Culture, Science, Economics, General Policy & Scientific Research are included. A candidate must consider all these topics & be well versed with them.
- Quantitative Aptitude: This section shall test a candidate’s ability in understanding & handling the numbers well. Topics included are whole numbers, decimals, fractions, relationship between numbers, percentage, heights & distance, trigonometric ratio etc. Candidates are advised to learn few short cut methods & techniques that shall consume less time & allow the candidates to solve the problems easily. Keeping a track on time while solving shall prove to be beneficial.
- English: Topics included in General English are comprehension & writing ability. Candidates are requested to brush up their grammar skills so as to score more & go through few Basic English books. Reading newspaper can act as an added advantage.
- Along with this, people applying for the post of Statistical Investigator Officer are required to take up with the test of Statistics.
With the selection of candidates in both the tiers, candidates are then called for interview & skill test round.
