The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is a enacted and autonomous body established under the Maharastra Secondary Boards Act 1965. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education, Pune came into existence on 1st January 1966 to regulate certain matters pertaining to secondary education in the state of Maharastra.
The most prominent task of the board is to conduct the SSC and HSC examinations. The exams are conducted in March and results declared in June.
About 13.5 lakh students appeared for SSC Board examinations in year 2014. The Board Examinations for Class 10th was held from 3rd of March 2014 and ended at 27th of the same month. The results were out on 07th of June 2014 with 92 percent students passing the examination. Girls performing far better than the boys across the state. The total pass percentage for girls was 82.1 percent, while that for boys was 78.66 percent.
Shilpa Basavraj Hiremath of Latur scored 98.61 per cent marks in SSC exams to emerge overall topper in Maharashtra, while Sonali Shantrama Chavan (96.46%), a student of Saraswati Secondary School, Thane, stood first in Mumbai division. The Maharastra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education SSC examination which will be starting from 03rd March 2015 and will end by 26th of the same month. The Maharastra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education SSC examination results are tentatively going to be declared in the month of June 2015.
