Category: Engineering Exams 17 0

IIT- JEE, JEE , JEE Mains, JEE- Advance, I am very sure that all of you have not only heard, but also seen these words across those large screen billboards that run across the streets and lanes in India.

Also i am very sure that some coaching institutes such as brilliant tutorials, who display their advertisements, might have caught the attention of many teens, just out of their puberty.Well i am writing this article for all those who want some additional information.

JEE,Joint Entrance Exams, previously known as  IIT-JEE, but since 2012 its called JEE. This is an entrance exam that is somewhat similar to GATE and is held annually all over India.

The main purpose of conducting this examination is to provide all engineering aspirants with an opportunity to reserve for themselves, a seat in the best education imparting institutes such as the IITs , the IIITs, the NITs and other such institutes that are either Centrally or Stately funded.

The JEE is partitioned in two (a) JEE Mains and (b) JEE Advanced:

since this already being mentioned in my previous article “JEE and Engineering”, (visit our website www.careersamosa.com),  i would want to ring a bell by mentioning that, although the Mains and the Advanced are the part of JEE, these are conducted separately for separate admissions. Here is a detailed description about both

(a) JEE Mains:

This exam is held for admission in engineering institutes such as the IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology), the NIT (National Institute of Information Technology) and other Central Govt institutes. However, one should carefully note that these are only for admissions to institutes that are offering programs in  information technology.

Papers and the nature of the exam: There are 2 papers in which the exam is conducted and all interest students can apply either for one or for both of them depending upon their interest
Paper 1: for admissions to B.E. and B.Tech (option of online and offline)
Paper 2: for admissions to B.Arch and Planning (only offline)

(b) JEE Advanced:

JEE Advance is an entrance exam that is held for the purpose of providing admissions only to the IITs, all of them as well as the ISM (Indian School of Mines).
This exam is even a higher level exam as compared to the JEE Mains  only those students who have scored a merit in the JEE Mains and are in the top 10 or top 20 rank of the 12th board exams are eligible to appear for JEE Advance.
So all those who wish to opt for and become IITs and IIITs, all the best.
