Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers:

The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, also known as (IETE) is one of India’s many Engineering Bodies, which is dedicated towards the advancement and the development of Science, Telecommunication and Technology.

The IETE was established in the year 1953, at the time of its inception there were very few members, but as of today there are more than 69000 members. Ever since its inception the institution has always taken initiatives for the administration and the development of Science, Technology & Telecommunication.

Taking into consideration all the contributions of the IETE, the Government of India has recognized the body as an educational institution of national significance. The institute conducts several seminars, conferences, meetings as well as several research and development programs, all for the advancement and the development of science and technology.

Membership of the Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers:

The membership to the IETE is based at different levels of the applicants academic & work experience in the field of Science, Telecommunication and Telecommunication. The membership to the Institute is classified in the following levels mentioned below:

  • Hon FIETE: Honorary fellow (Elected):
  • DFIETE: Distinguished Fellow (Elected)
  • FIETE: Fellow
  • MIETE: Member
  • Assoc IETE: Associates
  • Org Member IETE: Org Member IETE
  • AMIETE Scheme: Student AM
  • Student DIP: Students Diploma Scheme

The first 5 Categories are called Corporate Members of the IETE.

AMIETE 2015:

The Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers conducts the Graduation examination called the AMIETE, in the following discipline of Engineering

  • Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
  • Computer Science & Engineering
  • Information Technology


  • The institute also conducts the Diploma Examination in the following disciplines of Engineering:
  • Electronics & Telecommunication
  • Computer Science & Engineering Streams


All the candidates that have passed out the above mentioned examination are considered by the Government of India, for the purposes of recruitment to various posts in the fields of Information Technology, Computer Science and Telecommunication.

Eligibility Criteria for AMIETE Examination:

a)      Not less than 16 years of age and having passed 12th standard exam (of 10+2 system) with physics, chemistry and mathematics as subjects,
is/has been a student of electronics/ telecommunications/electrical engineering ,or physics in a university/college/institution approved by the Council.
is/has been an engineering pupil/apprentice/assistant in a recognized firm, society or organisation engaged in electronics and telecommunication engineering or allied subjects.
Not less than 18 years and with DIPIETE or equivalent diploma recognized by the Council.

Should be sponsored by a corporate member of the IETE.

Eligibility for DIPIETE Examination:

a)      Not less than 14 years of age and having passed the 10th class examination conducted by a recognized board of education, or its equivalent, as prescribed by the Council.
is a student of electronics/telecommunications/electrical engineering or physics in a university/college/school approved by the Council.
is/has been an electronics & telecommunications engineering apprentice/assistant in a recognized firm/society/organization.
b) is sponsored by a corporate member of IETE.

Syllabus for AMIETE 2015:

Compulsory Subjects
Section A:
Mathematics(1&2), Engineering Graphics, Applied Mechanics, Material & Processes, Basic Electronics, Signals & Systems, Numerical  Analysis & Computer Programming, Circuit Theory & Design, Analog & Digital Electronics, Electrical Engineering.

Section B:
Control Engineerng, Instrumentation & Measurements, Computer Engineering, Electro magnetics & Radiation, Communication Engineering, Industrial Management, Telecommunication System & Services, Project, Lab Practice.

Electives(Any 2):
Antenna & Wave Propagation, Microwave Theory & Techniques, Digital Communications, Satellite & Space Communications, Opto Electronics & Optical Communications, Physical Electronics & Solid State Devices, Power Electronics.

Syllabus for DIPIETE 2015:

Compulsory Subjects
Section A:
Mathematics (1&2), Applied Mechanics, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Materials, Electrical Engineering, Basic Electronics, Network & Transmission Lines.

Section B:
Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, Computer Engineering, Electronic Instrumentation & Measurements, Communication Engineering, Project, Lab Practice.

Electives(Any 2):
Computer Software Fundamentals, Control Engineerng, Industrial Engineering, Elements of Satellite Communications, Television Engineering, Electronic Switching Systems, Data Communication & Networks, Industrial Electronics.

Date of the 2015 Examinations:

The upcoming AMIETE/DIPIETE Examination will be conducted in June 2015.

Results of the 2015 Examinations:

The results of the June Examinations are usually declared in the month of September. All the results are declared on the website of the IETE OR the candidates are informed through the Post.

Applications forms for 2015 Examinations:

All Applications to appear in both the above mentioned examinations must be made on the Prescribed Examination form, together with the Examination FEE. All the general instructions will be given in the Examination Form, no action will be taken on incomplete applications.

Examination Fees:

As already mentioned previously, the application form should be submitted with the fees, the fees are subject to revision without any prior notice. All the exam fees once paid will not be refunded at any cost.
