When a candidate goes through a list of all the entrance exams, it is but obvious for him/her to get confused to decide between the two. Many a times it so happens that due to similar names or structure of exams, candidates face a hard time to decide on to which exam is a better option for them.
Entrance exams like CAT, CMAT, GMAT, MAT, MAT & CAT are difficult to choose from. Over here, we explain the importance of MAT v/s GMAT exam. This way it shall be easy for the candidates to some extent so as to decide between the two entrance exams.
MAT & GMAT are both Management Entrance exams being conducted at different levels all together. GMAT is Graduate Management Aptitude Test which is conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) for the Foreign Universities to enroll students in Foreign Universities. The score card obtained for GMAT entrance exam is valid for 5 years. There is as such no specific time schedule mentioned for the GMAT entrance exam. It is believed to be a continuous process & conducted in all the months. One can very well choose the date, venue, program etc.. The GMAT scores are expected as well in as many as 100 B-Schools in India.
MAT is Management Aptitude Test being conducted by AIMA (All India Institute of Management Association) The score card of MAT entrance exam is valid for one year. MAT entrance exam is being conducted four times in a year, mainly February, May, September & December. The MAT entrance exam has been approved by the Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD.
Eligibility criteria for GMAT exam is relaxed to certain extent as the only criteria that they carry is that the candidate should be of minimum 18 years of age. On the other hand, eligibility criteria for MAT entrance exam is that candidates must have done Graduation from a recognized University.
GMAT is a Computer Adaptive test where in candidates shall receive questions one after the other. Along with that, the difficulty level & the score of the exam shall depend on the accuracy of the previous attempted questions. The total time duration allotted for GMAT entrance exam is 3 hours 30 minutes. The sections included in GMAT exam are Analytical Writing assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative, Verbal etc..
On the other hand MAT exam is conducted for 150 minutes in all covering questions on topics like English Usage, Mathematical Ability, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency, Indian & Global Environment, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning.
Thus we come to a conclusion that both the Management Entrance exams have got their own importance, but GMAT has got an edge over the MAT exam since it allows candidates to even get admission in Foreign Universities.
