“Lawyers” play an important role in the society right from the age at which one can pass the driving test lesson, to the reasonable wages one can command as per the nature of the new job. In that reference a common entrance test has been conducted for lawyers.
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an entrance exam conducted at national level on rotational basis by 14 National Law Universities (NLU) for enrollment of admissions in under graduate(LL.B) & post graduate degree programs(LL.M)
The National Law Universities offer five year integrated under graduate law courses such as B.A LL.B, B.Sc LL.B, BBA LL.B , B.S.W LL.B, B.Com LL.B (Hons) .
Eligibility for CLAT :
For LL.B applicant must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized Board with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST applicants).
Age limit: Below 20 years of age(22 years for SC/ST/PWD)
For LL.M, candidates must have passed LL.B from a recognized University with minimum 55% marks(50% for SC/ST)
The exam pattern of CLAT basically consists of 5 sections which are :
comprehension :40 marks
General Knowledge &
Current affairs : 50 marks
Elementary Mathematics :20 marks
Legal Aptitude : 50 marks
Logical Reasoning : 40 marks
