The long lasting wait comes to an end with this news..Additional MBBS Seats for Medical Institutes have been announced by the empowered Committee under Union Health Ministry. The government has announced & accepted the approval of going ahead with the decision in order to add as many as 2,500 more seats for Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) across all the Medical Institutes in India.

As per the announcement made by the Government officials, the additional seats shall come at both new & existing Government Colleges. As per the input received form the Health Ministry, the committee has also given positive nod for establishing new Medical Colleges at few of the selected hospitals.

This step is indeed taken towards the progress of the country & won’t be wrong to say it is a blessing in disguise. Many medical aspirants shall be glad on hearing this news. In 2014-15, the Medical Council of India (MCI) had rejected the proposal of adding 3920 new seats, instead of that 2750 new seats were approved.

Regardless of that, the decision undertaken by Medical Council of India (MCI) was initially rejected by many. As per the recent details, the committee has replied positively in favour of G B Pant Hospital (Port Blair) for adding 100 new seats. Where as the other district hospitals such as Almora, Datia, Churu, Dungarpur, Kohima, and Khandwa were among others who got the permission from the committee.

Apart from that, the committee also gave approval for proposals to increase number of seats in Medical Colleges of Amritsar & Patiala (Punjab), Kany (Tamil Nadu). It has been so said that the seat base in Bhopal, Haldwani, Kota, Indore, Gwalior & Udaipur are about to increase.
